What do parents of preschool children expect from kindergarten
JEŽKOVÁ, Zuzana
This bachelor's thesis studies the expectations that the parents of preschool children have of kindergartens. Parents often keep these expectations to themselves and rarely voice them. My objective was to identify what parents consider as important, what properties a kindergarten should have, what parents' requirements are of teachers, as well as how teachers themselves perceive the issue. In the theoretical part, I deal with the basic terms such as family, preschool child, kindergarten, and the mutual cooperation of family and school. The second part of the thesis describes a questionnaire survey and interviews. Whilst a large portion of parents are satisfied with their choice of kindergarten, some have made suggestions such as improved communication, a change of diet, or a reduction of rewards in the form of sweets.

Růžková, Zuzana ; Dragomirecká, Eva (advisor) ; Tomeš, Igor (referee)
This thesis is focused on social housing for families as a specific housing policy instrument for securing housing of families with children who are for various reasons disadvantaged on the free housing market. In the thesis social housing is understood as a way towards fulfilment of the right to adequate housing and at the same time as an instrument for supporting families in their function of securing healthy development of their children in a safe environment. The aim of the thesis is to contribute to the actual debate on the creation of the state policy of social housing. It is done mainly by the mapping of housing and social policy on the state and local level. Local policy of social housing is explored particularly in five city districts of the capital city of Prague. The research draws data from documents of the city districts and interviews with the officials from property departments and social departments, in particular with the heads of child welfare sections. The research shows that the access of families with children to the instruments of local housing policy is always in some way limited. The city districts vary in the level of these limits. Some districts really offer a solution of the housing problems of families who are disadvantaged in the access to housing while others fill this...

Family group conferences from the perspective of its actors
Řepová, Magdaléna ; Růžička, Michal (advisor) ; Hradcová, Dana (referee)
The Family Group Conference is a restorative approach to decision making which is used mainly with families in child protection. It is an empowering process aimed at strengthening the family members and children' right to have a say in matters that concern them, an issue stressed by the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child. FGCs are therefore used to help families in finding their own solutions in difficult situations. This thesis investigates the strategies used by families and relatives within FGC in order to solve complex family situations, and compares the specifics of this approach with more common problem-solving method used in this field. In addition, it examines how the family conference is perceived by its actors. The theoretical part introduces the principles and the main ideas of this approach and describes the process and the roles of its actors. Firstly, FGCs are briefly presented within the international context and then the process of their recent implementation in the Czech Republic is described in more detail. The data are collected through the participant observation of two family conferences. In addition, semi-structured interviews with the involved actors were used to discover the participants' view of the conference, and to compare this particular approach of decision...
The rights of a child and duties of a parent
Carbolová, Zuzana ; Hendrychová, Michaela (advisor) ; Šustek, Petr (referee)
Resumé This thesis, dealing with rights of a child and duties of a parent, is based on the fact that it is primarily the parents who have to fulfill their duties towards children while a child has primarily the right that a parent fulfills duties towards him. This condition is justified by the fact that children are in relation to adults, in this thesis towards parents, traditionally considered as a weaker "element". Because of that, the attention is firstly paid to the rights of a child in a wider context. In the very beginning we take into consideration a historical context of the child's rights development that shows the contrast between a premodern period when a child was considered as almost powerless and without rights and a "progressive " 20th century when a lot of international documents concentrate solely on rights of a child. As a follow-up to the child's rights development, the attention is aimed on explanation of the terms "best interests of the child" and "child's welfare". The thesis also deals with participatory rights in relation to the law court and in relation towards parents. Because the role of a family is very important in a development and education of a child, the thesis also focuses on juridical protection of the family and explains the term "family" in the European system of the...

Ledvinová, Jarmila ; Hanušová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Kučírek, Jiří (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the issues of family and its perception by secondary school students. The theoretical part concerns family from several points of view. The introductory chapter is focused on selected milestones of the development of family in general. The substance of the next chapter is the very definition of family - how it is dealt with by Czech law, sociology and psychology. Family does not always acquire the same form, therefore in this part, there is also presented an overview of family models. Family has an essential influence on the development of a child and this problem is discussed in the fourth chapter. A part of a child's development are mainly its needs and also the functionality of family itself. That is why the thesis is furthermore focused on child wellfare in general. A child is not always brought up in a family, therefore attention is paid also to substitute care, whether family or institutional. The practical part of the thesis is based on interviews with ten respondents and on research of their opinions of family, whether present, future or ideal. The perception of family is very subjective and it is influenced by family relationships and its present structure. The idea of an ideal family is strongly influenced by its presentation in media. In the view of a...

VONDRÁŠKOVÁ, Blanka
The thesis contains a theoretical and a research part, both dealing with the role of the guardian in legal processes concerning child care. The theoretical part focuses on introducing the institute of the social-legal protection of children acting as a guardian in legal processes concerning child care. It further explains the problematics of guardianship in the above mentioned processes and describes conditions under which the guardian is usually established. The research part presents the guardians´ opinions concerning their legal rights and competences in the discussed legal processes. According to the thesis aim, a qualitative research was done in the form of interviews with the guardians of the municipal offices in Sušice and Horažďovice. As a result, the interview data is evaluated and discussed in the final part of the thesis. According to the guardians, a methodological guide or a simple description of the guardian´s responsibilities is missing. The guardians face this problem every day, but they also identify other problems (as for example problems caused by the prolonging of adjudications or by their time-consuming work).
